Recently, EB-LINK cooperated with a high-tech park to complete the supply of access layer upgrade: the original plan was to replace the access switch as a whole, but after on-site evaluation, it was changed to modular replacement. The backbone optical cable and existing wiring remained unchanged, and the equipment arrived in two batches.

The bottleneck is concentrated in two places, so there is no need to replace the entire machine.

The inspection found two types of problems: First, some business servers still use Gigabit electrical interface network cards, and the newly installed 10 Gigabit collection and virtualization traffic are not running well; second, the aggregation bandwidth of a large number of 100 Mbit transceivers in the weak power room is insufficient, and packets are lost during the evening peak. The port margin, power supply, and fan status of the exchange host were acceptable. Replacing the entire machine was a waste, so we finally decided to keep the host and only replace parts.

Dismantle parts by layer and cut over in batches at night

The cutover is scheduled during the night window within two weeks, and only one weak current room is moved at a time. The old equipment is removed and kept in the original cabinet for a week as a fallback path.

Save more than just equipment purchase costs

Not one meter of main cable line was added, and wiring materials and pipe hole excavation time were saved overall; the shutdown scope was reduced to a single floor, and the park's production and office operations were not affected as a whole. This kind of practice of keeping the old and replacing it with the new is different from that ofCampus network and FTTH integrated cabling solutionThe idea of transforming the middle access layer is the same.

This batch of equipment will be shipped after testing one by one. The test list comes with a comparison table. For component evaluation of old network transformation, please call 0755-83179002 to consult Wolflight technical support.
