Recently, EB-LINK completed the batch delivery of an all-optical network FTTH transformation project in a high-tech park. This batch of products is mainly Gigabit single-fiber bidirectional optical modules and single-fiber transceivers. They are all distributed in pairs according to the A/B end. After coding, testing, and labeling, they are sent to the construction site in batches. Cooperating with the general contractor, the ports of three buildings were opened within two months.
Project difficulty: only half of the optical fiber
During the early stage of cabling in this park, only one trunk fiber core was reserved for each layer. The traditional dual-fiber solution required re-threading the pipes and laying the cables, which was unacceptable in terms of construction time and cost. The project team switched to a single-fiber bidirectional solution. Two wavelengths, 1310nm and 1550nm, are transmitted in different directions on the same fiber. The modules are used in pairs according to the TX/RX complementary relationship, and the link is up and running without any construction work. Fiber core tension is the most common constraint in the renovation of existing campuses, and single-fiber pairing is a method that rarely requires rewiring.
How to deliver in pairs so that there is no mess
- When leaving the factory, the boxes are packed according to the building-floor-port number, the A/B ends are divided into boxes and color-coded, and the construction team picks up the items according to the labels;
- Gigabit single mode single fiber one optical one electrical fiber optic transceiverwith the upper classCampus network and FTTH integrated cabling solutionThe port table in the port table is checked together to avoid reverse connection of ports;
- Each module is re-tested on the machine for receiving and receiving luminous power, and the DDM readings are qualified before being packaged. The on-site activation rate is close to full capacity;
- An additional 5% of spare parts are prepared according to the same wavelength, and there is no need to replace the solution to fix leaks.
Delivery results and follow-up
After the three buildings were put into operation, the single link was measured to operate stably. The fiber core consumption was half that of the dual-fiber solution. The overall wiring cycle of the project was shortened by about one-third, which was compared with the previous one.High-tech park office building all-optical network FTTH projectForm reuse of similar solutions. EB-LINK will subsequently organize the single-fiber paired distribution process into a standard delivery template, covering speeds from 100 Mbit to Gigabit.
