Recently, the industrial network transformation of an auto parts manufacturer's smart factory that EB-LINK participated in completed batch delivery and entered trial operation. The production line controller, vision camera and code scanning station are uniformly connected to the dual-fiber ring network, and any link interruption can be automatically bypassed.

Why did the renovation give up and continue to build star shapes?

The access equipment in the old workshop was scattered in three electrical cabinets and relied on buried network cables for star-shaped convergence. If a cable was broken by a forklift, one line would be stopped. This time, the main trunk of the cabinet was replaced with a fiber optic ring.Smart factory industrial network transformation for an auto parts manufacturerThe complete process from topological surveying, line suspension window application to cabinet-by-cabinet replacement is recorded here, which can be used for comparison in similar factories. The number of nodes in the ring is controlled to single digits in order to keep the impact of status messages within an acceptable range. If it exceeds the limit, it will be split into a backbone ring and branch chains.

Three more types of inspections are done before leaving the factory.

The equipment shipped with the goods has undergone three inspections during the factory process: cold start, fiber pulling switching and full-load long-term operation.Gigabit single mode dual fiber one optical one electrical fiber optic transceiverThe received and received luminous power is recorded one by one, and the actual measured values are compiled into a list attached with the goods. It can be quoted directly for on-site acceptance without unpacking and retesting. The construction team only measured optical power and port count that day, and the replacement of three cabinets was completed within one line stop window.

Three changes that customers can perceive

  • Single-point link failures are automatically bypassed by the ring network, and the production line no longer has to wait for the whole line to be broken due to a broken link.
  • Workstations with a distance of more than 100 m between cabinets directly use optical fiber backbones, eliminating the need for intermediate relay equipment.
  • Port transceiver counts and alarms are reported centrally, and operation and maintenance shifts from passive repairs to shift-based inspections.
  • The arrival specifications correspond to the test values one-to-one. When replenishing the goods, just report the model number according to the list.
