Recently, EB-LINK delivered a batch of multi-port differential serial interface cards to an equipment manufacturing company in East China for the interface transformation of the centralized data collection host of the production line. The first batch of arrivals has been completed on the shelf and jointly debugged at the customer's site, and the production line switchover was completed within the planning window.

Transformation background: more buses, fewer ports, and tighter slots

The electricity meters, thermostats, and code readers on the customer's production line are all networked using the 485 bus. The old collection machine only has two native serial ports, and the newly purchased industrial computer only has PCIe slots. After merging cabinets, one host needs to cover nearly 16 buses, and the card density becomes the core difficulty in the transformation.

Solution: Hierarchical configuration of high-density differential cards and debugging ports

  • For bus collectionPCI-E to 4-port RS485/422 serial port card, each port can switch 485 or 422 mode independently;
  • Device debugging port reservedPCI-E to 8 serial port card, dedicated to connect 232 old instruments, the two types of traffic do not crowd each other;
  • Shielded wires and terminal adapters are provided in the same batch to reduce on-site wiring errors. All installation instructions and terminal definition diagrams are included with the card.

What does the customer get

The bus capacity of a single host has been increased by approximately four times. The baud rate and verification parameters of the original acquisition software have remained unchanged. Shutdown switching control can be completed within half a day. After the debugging port is separated from the production port, on-site troubleshooting efficiency is also significantly improved.

Subsequent batches have been scheduled for stocking. During the on-site joint debugging period, engineers can be on duty online.
