In July this year, EB-LINK upgraded the factory inspection process of high-speed optical modules: 25G and above rate modules added high-temperature bit error sampling and DDM parameter calibration one by one, and 100G models added high- and low-temperature aging sampling inspections. The delivery time of conventional models has not been extended as a result.

Why check the high-speed module?

The faults of high-speed modules are more concealed than those of low-speed modules: the link can be connected at normal temperature, but if it enters a fully loaded cabinet in summer, the bit error rate may increase; DDM reporting drift will also cause the monitoring system to misjudge the fiber. Data center operation and maintenance often only looks at the network management side. If only a quick test at normal temperature is performed before leaving the factory, such boundary problems can easily be missed. Waiting for the on-site power supply to be cut off before troubleshooting, the cost is much higher than adding a test in the factory.

What exactly is added to the new process?

  • Each batch is added with continuous error code sampling in high-temperature environments, and is operated according to the upper limit of the nominal shell temperature of the module;
  • DDM parameters such as luminous power, light receiving power, temperature, voltage, etc. are calibrated and compared one by one;
  • 100G DAC high speed cableAdd continuity and insertion loss retest with AOC;
  • The test record is bound to a serial number, which can be traced after it is shipped out of the warehouse.

During acceptance, the test records can be checked back according to the serial number.

There will be no price increase during the inspection process, and common models will still be shipped from stock. This reduces two types of troubles for customers: the probability of on-site plug-in not lighting up or intermittent power-on and off is reduced; network management false alarms of low light due to parameter drift are reduced, and acceptance can also be done like100G optical fiber interconnection upgrade between buildings in a large data center in East ChinaThe test records are adjusted according to the serial number of the project, and there is no need to return the entire batch for retest.
