In early March, EB-LINK delivered a batch of communication materials for the cluster transformation of 110kV substations in a province, covering dozens of sites. The categories include data and telephony optical transceivers, rack-mounted transceivers and supporting passive equipment.

Project background: Cluster transformation window is tight

The province is conducting batch renovations across entire regions this year. The design drawings of the same batch of sites are reused and the material lists are standardized. However, the power outage windows are spread out to different days of the week, and the effective installation time of a single station is often less than one day. The supply must be split by station instead of being shipped in large batches by category. Otherwise, on-site inventory will take half a day and will fall behind the planned power delivery time.

The practice of binning by station

The warehouse is divided into boxes according to the site number: each box is loaded with all the optical transceivers of the station, the corresponding modules with written codes, and a14-slot box transceiver rack, and cutting according to the actual measured lengthSingle mode double core armored patch cord, a one-page installation checklist is posted on the box. On-site personnel construct according to boxes and check according to orders, which significantly reduces installation errors and missing installations. Materials between sites will not be misappropriated from each other, and the cost of communication for replenishing materials is reduced accordingly.

Three inspections before shipment

  • The optical transceiver is powered on one by one to perform self-loop and 485 loop tests, and the records are included in the box;
  • The modules that need to be coded are written in advance according to the switch brand, and the batch code number is marked on the box list, so there is no need to write codes twice on site;
  • The station where the long-distance link is located is equipped with two spare modules in the box to prevent accidental damage on site and no parts can be replaced.

This batch has been put on shelves and jointly tested at all sites. Electric power batch transformation projects can refer to this station-by-station boxing model.
