Recently, EB-LINK cooperated with the integrator to complete the delivery of components for the network transformation of box-type transformers in a wind farm in northwest China. The core isGigabit single mode single fiber one optical one electrical fiber optic transceiverWith the end armored jumper, they are packed and shipped in pairs according to the fan station number.

Why do box transformers switch to single fiber for networking?

The switch remote signaling, metering data and environmental monitoring data in each box-type transformer must be uploaded to the station monitoring system. Most of the fiber cores along the collector lines are already strained. Rerouting the cables requires coordinating roads and hoisting windows. The cost and construction period are much higher than using cores. The single-fiber bidirectional model uses two wavelengths, 1310 and 1550, to complete uplink and downlink on one core. One box transformer only occupies one core. End A and end B must be used in pairs. They are numbered according to the link pairing upon arrival to reduce the probability of mixed connections on site.

What did you actually get when this batch arrived?

  • They are divided into boxes according to the machine location number. The labels at both ends of the link indicate the location and core number of the opposite end. The handover does not rely on verbal descriptions.
  • The wavelength and direction are marked on the A/B end of the single-fiber model. The light will not turn on when installed upside down, and the rework cost is low.
  • The transceivers and jumpers are shipped after power-on and insertion loss tests one by one, and the serial numbers can be traced by batch.
  • A link correspondence table is attached at random. Operation and maintenance can check the points according to the table. There is no need to read the as-built drawings on site.

The inspection radius of a wind farm is often measured in kilometers. The more complex the types of access equipment, the more spare parts are onboard. This batch of solutions unifies the box-type transformer side access to a single speed and single port form, and the aggregation side is concentrated in the communication equipment room of the booster station. Only a small number of spare parts are retained at the end to cover most common faults.
