EB-LINK announced that the 25G fiber optic network card series based on Intel E810 and XXV710 chips has recently completed the SR-IOV function and container platform compatibility verification. The corresponding firmware driver combination has been simultaneously launched in the special area and is available for trial application for containerization transformation and virtualization projects.
Why do container scenarios require SR-IOV?
Bridge software forwarding must pass through the host protocol stack, which requires high CPU consumption and latency. SR-IOV virtualizes multiple VFs from a physical port and passes them through to the container or virtual machine, bypassing the host software path and significantly improving high-performance traffic, AI training data loading, and gateway load. This verification confirms whether the upper limit of the number of VFs, the naming behavior, and the K8s device plug-in are properly coordinated.
What does verification cover?
- PCI-EX8 25G dual optical port fiber optic network card (Intel XXV710 chip) and PCI-EX8 25G dual optical port fiber optic network card (Intel E810 chip)Different VF quantity configurations for both platforms
- VF pass-through, IP allocation and recycling testing of common network plug-ins on the new kernel of mainstream releases
- Observation of pass-through stability under long-term stable operation and repeated creation and destruction of virtual machines
How to get and try it out
For projects that plan to upgrade the container network, after reporting the platform version and kernel information, EB-LINK technical support will confirm the firmware version that supports VF according to the list before shipping. Each card will still be tested optically one by one, and the verification records will be filed with the goods. For evaluation sample cards, you can call 0755-83179002, and data center scenarios can be combinedData center high-speed interconnection solutionPlan together.
This series is also compatible with traditional bare metal and virtual machine network forms. Not enabling VF will not affect the original use.
