This month, EB-LINK completed the packaging and export of a batch of single-mode pigtails and sent them to an operator's access network project in Southeast Asia. The end faces are unified into APC, which is used for splicing optical distribution points and optical cables into ends. The goods arrive in batches in line with the local FTTH construction rhythm.

Why use pigtails instead of jumpers?

The access network optical cable needs to be terminated with a fixed end on site. One end of the pigtail is a connector and the other end is a bare fiber, which is used for splicing. Compared with movable jumpers, the reflection at the welded end is smaller, which is more suitable for wiring points that will not move for a long time, and also reduces loosening caused by subsequent manual plugging and unplugging. For access points with limited fiber distribution box space, fixed ends are also more conducive to fiber distribution and unified identification.

The value of APC in single-fiber scenarios

This operator uses a single-fiber bidirectional wavelength division solution, which is sensitive to reflection, and end-face grinding directly determines the uplink quality.

  • Single fiber bidirectional wavelength division is sensitive to reflection, and the APC oblique angle suppresses the echo.
  • The return loss should be above 60dB to reduce interference to uplink signals.
  • The green APC terminal has the same logo as the patch panel, making it easy to distinguish between operations and maintenance.

Delivery and follow-up

Each pigtail is packed into boxes after random inspection based on end face and insertion loss, and is attached with a batch traceability label. Any disputes can be traced back to the production section. EB-LINK delivers goods in batches according to the project rhythm to ensure the connection between material arrival and construction.

For overseas access network and FTTH requirements, the core number and terminal requirements can be provided, and technical support will be provided to match the model and arrange the shipment schedule.
