Many production lines squeeze camera images, MES business, and office traffic into the same network. There is no problem at ordinary times, but when the peak of continuous collection is reached, they drag each other down. Before separating, you must first find out what the price of running around is, so that you can judge whether the investment is worth it.

Two typical symptoms of mixed running

First, the MES code scanning response slows down when images are uploaded, and the work station is waiting for the database to return; second, when batch archiving fills up the bandwidth, camera trigger messages are delayed, resulting in misalignment between the judgment and the actual object. These two types of symptoms are basically running traffic with completely different rhythms on the same link: images are large bursts, and MES is small packet high-frequency. The two methods of seizing bandwidth are completely different, and it is difficult to take care of each other by adjusting parameters.

Three levels of network distribution

  • Physical separation: The visual workstation has a separate set of optical fiber backbones, and the MES and office use another set, which is the most thorough and hassle-free.
  • Logical separation: Different VLANs on the same cable, combined with priority queues, suitable for workshops with tight renovation budgets and temporary rewiring.
  • Separate directions: The image is uploaded through an independent uplink port, and the determined traffic is left in the local loop of the work station to reduce cross-network round-trips.

Choices when landing

In the new factory area, it is recommended to directly divide the vision and MES into two sets for access, and use them on the workstation side.Gigabit single mode dual fiber one optical one electrical fiber optic transceiverDo photoelectric conversion and go up the trunkSFP+ 10G single-mode dual-fiber 10km optical module. If the transformation budget is tight, we first implement logical isolation and priority queuing, and limit image uploads to an uplink port. First, we ensure that triggering and determination messages are not crowded out by large blocks of retained traffic, and the production line rhythm is not slowed down.
