The industrial computer goes offline the moment the welding machine is started, which is a common repair phenomenon in the workshop. An easy mistake to make when reviewing such records is to directly regard the network card as a suspect. In fact, interference often comes from the power supply and wiring. The following three-layer sequence is more trouble-free at the factory site.

First match the offline time with the shift record

Delimitation starts from timestamp. Align the down log of the switch port and the network card reconnection record with the device operation table to see if the disconnection is concentrated within a few hundred milliseconds of actions such as arc starting of the welding machine and frequency conversion speed adjustment of the fan. If the time is right, the problem basically has nothing to do with the steady-state bandwidth and belongs to transient coupling; if it is not right, you have to go back to the port negotiation, cable and driver layer, and don't rush to change the medium.

The power path and common mode path should be separated by an amount

The two paths have different disposal methods. The on-site inspection is usually carried out in the following order:

  • Confirm whether the industrial computer and the nearby cabinet are powered by the same power supply, and whether there is a common neutral line on the power supply circuit of the welding machine;
  • Measure the potential difference between the cabinet shell and the ground bar. A difference of a few volts in the workshop is enough to cause errors in long network cables;
  • Check whether the network cable is laid in the same slot as the power cable, and whether the parallel section at the corner is too long;
  • Record the retransmission and CRC count on the network card side to determine whether the link layer packet is lost or the host cannot handle it.

Determine the three signals on the optical fiber

If the power supply and wiring have been rectified and the port count still jumps when the welding machine starts arcing, it means that the copper cable is no longer stable. Changing the medium only solves the coupling path. The number of slots, driver queue settings and camera maximum frame length still need to be confirmed one by one. Otherwise, frame loss will continue as the bandwidth increases.
