The collection lines of photovoltaic and wind farms are often tens to dozens of kilometers long. There are many requirements for uploading fault indicators, switch positions and current amounts along the lines, but the single point speed is low and the points are scattered. Concentrating these signals onto a single fiber optic cable is easier to maintain than running long distances of copper cable along the line.

First, distinguish whether the contact quantity or the bus quantity is to be transmitted.

Fault indicators and switch auxiliary contacts are mostly passive contacts or pulse quantities, which are usually collected by local collection units and then sent via RS485 or Modbus. Equipment such as electricity meters and thermostats that have 485 ports can be directly connected in series. Only after distinguishing these two categories can we know how many data channels are needed on site to avoid having more than a dozen devices hung on the same bus for polling.

The glazing process relies on data optical transceiver for isolation

Copper cables laid in parallel for long distances in the field station are easily affected by switch operations and lightning strike induction. After changing to optical fiber, the potential difference in this section is cut off. Key points for wiring and troubleshooting

  • The 485 bus goes hand in hand, and a 120Ω terminal resistor is added at the end to avoid long branches.
  • The shielding layer should be grounded at one end to avoid a loop at both ends.
  • Record the light receiving power baseline for each link. In case of failure, measure the light before moving the equipment.
  • Do a light pass test on the spare fiber core in advance. Don't wait until a rainy night to discover that it is blocked.

EB-LINK's data optical transceiver series is divided into categories according to the number of channels. 2-way and 3-in-1 models are in the spot pool and will be shipped after testing one by one.
