Most of the communication equipment of photovoltaic and wind farm stations are located in box-type transformers or outdoor cabinets. It is cold in winter and hot in summer, and the temperature difference between day and night is large. It is recommended that the selection sequence be reversed: first confirm the true temperature range in the cabinet, and then decide which device and installation method to use. It is easier than asking the price first.

First measure the extreme value inside the cabinet, don't just look at the weather temperature

The lowest local temperature in winter is not equal to the temperature the equipment can withstand. The top space of a sealed box often exceeds 50°C under sunlight in summer, and may be lower than -25°C at night in winter. In addition, the power supply and conversion chip heat themselves, and the high-temperature and low-temperature sections in the cabinet are actually elongated. It is recommended to use a temperature and humidity meter with a record to measure the high and low extreme values across a seasonal cycle, and then leave a margin of 5℃ to determine the gear. Do not choose based on weather software readings.

Condensation often causes problems earlier than low temperatures

When the temperature returns to zero, moist air condenses on the surfaces of boards and fiber optic adapters, insertion loss increases, and metal parts rust. Failures often occur in spring rather than late winter. The method is divided into three levels: replace the box seal when it is old; seal the cable inlet hole and make it lower than the equipment, so that the condensate water flows to a lower place; check whether the heating or dehumidification element in the cabinet is effective in the long term. Leave jumpers in the cabinet to maintain the diameter of the circle, and do not let the slim body run against the wall of the cabinet.

Drop the list down to a specific model

EB-LINK's optical modules and transceiver series can be selected according to the working temperature and distance range of the project. They will be tested one by one before shipment. Report the box conditions to 0755-83179002 to verify the plan.
