In the early days, many command centers used wall-mounted or scattered box-type equipment to solve the access problem. By the time there were dozens of channels, no one behind the cabinet could see which link was which at a glance. Centralized shelving was an inevitable lesson.
Benefits concentrated on the rack
Using 14-slot box transceiver rackThe advantages of merging distributed units into the same counter are unified power supply, unified heat dissipation and unified observation of indicator light status. Correspondence to key services such as dispatch calls8-way telephone + 1-way Internet phone optical transceiverInstall in a separate partition to avoid being mixed with video equipment, and the risk of accidental removal is immediately reduced.
Three elements of labeling
- Local location: The computer room name, cabinet number, and slot number are written to the slot level.
- Opposite end position: end point or patch panel port number. The labels on both ends must be in pairs.
- Link identity: routing number plus fiber core number, consistent with ledger and distribution frame records.
- Slot correspondence: The rack slot number is written into the label. When replacing the unit, pick it up according to the slot, so there is no need to search for the complete machine model.
Inspection and maintenance rhythm
It is recommended to check for indicator light abnormalities and register alarms on a weekly basis, clean end faces, randomly check the bending radius of jumpers, and use lower leads in the cabinet on a monthly basis.Single-mode single-core armored jumpers, anti-mouse jumper pigtails, special jumpers for Internet cafes, special jumpers for cabinetsResistant to external forces and bites. Perform an active/standby switchover every quarter and record the screen recovery time. The data is kept in the operation and maintenance table instead of being handed over verbally.
The on-shelf transformation itself does not take long, and one link can usually be migrated in one night. What really saves time is troubleshooting every time thereafter. It is recommended to reserve two to three empty slots in the rack according to the number in use. There is no need to change the rack for expansion or replacement. For weak current rooms that have been scattered for many years, labels and ledgers can be added first, and then merged into the rack in batches to avoid stopping too many services at one time.
