The most frequently asked question in high-definition surveillance and audio-visual projects is how to choose the interface. The signal forms of HDMI and SDI are different, and the number of channels, distances and wiring habits of the corresponding optical transceivers are different. Check the signal source first before deciding on the equipment.
The difference between the two signal forms
HDMI comes from the display equipment ecosystem and is suitable for short-distance interconnection in computer rooms and conference rooms. The interface is sensitive to plugging and unplugging; SDI is a broadcast-grade serial video signal, and coaxial single-wire transmission is more resistant to long-distance wiring. The habit of retaining SDI interfaces for broadcast control and front-end equipment is mature. The optical transceiver only moves these two types of signals to the optical fiber. The first step in selection is to confirm what interface the source output is.
Seating according to the scene
- Multi-screen verification in the command center: use an HDMI model with network and audio, such as2-way HDMI+network+2-way independent two-way audio optical transceiver;
- Camera long-distance single-channel return: use1-way 3G-SDI audio and video optical transceiver, directly connected to the front-end SDI output;
- If you need playback and remote guidance: choose a two-way symmetrical transmission model, and the upstream and downstream are completed on the same fiber.
There is another set of plans for radio and television and large-screen projects
There are many types of signals in the studio. In addition to video, there are also voice and call links. SDI, audio, telephone and optical transceivers are often required to be mixed into the network. A city radio and television stationAudio and video signal optical fiber transmission project in a city's radio and television studioConfigure links separately according to signal types, and unify computer room labels and ledgers. EB-LINK has organized such matching ideas in radio and television and large-screen audio and video optical fiber transmission solutions, which can be directly compared in the early stage of the project to reduce the number of modifications during construction.
To put it simply: on the monitoring side, look at the number of channels and reverse data first, on the radio and television side, look at the signal type first, and everything will follow if the interface is selected correctly.
