Project background

The old studio area was renovated in Taili. The 4K/1080p signal from the host location needs to be sent 800 meters across the building to the main control and new media live broadcast room. The copper cable solution cannot guarantee the delay and image quality.

Needs and Challenges

• The video needs to be 4:4:4 uncompressed and requires high color accuracy;
• The director and cameraman need independent two-way communication channels;
• SDI baseband and HDMI production signals are mixed.

Implementation points

The main link uses 4-way bidirectional HDMI + network + 4-way independent two-way audio optical transceiver, which is transmitted to the main control without compression; the 3G-SDI optical transceiver takes over the baseband truck signal; the multi-functional multi-service optical transceiver handles the transition of cross-building VGA old equipment; all signals are physically isolated by different cores of the same optical cable.

Deliverables

• Large-screen monitoring has zero compression, latency is less than one frame, and colors are consistent across floors;
• The 4 groups of director calls are independent and clear, with no crosstalk;
• The system has undertaken major live broadcast tasks with zero accidents for two consecutive years.
