The most common method when relocating a location is to extend the network cable. After connecting, the camera will light up, but the gimbal will restart as soon as it moves. The problem is probably not with the data but with the power supply: the voltage drop caused by the line resistance will change simultaneously with the wire diameter, length and current.

Where does the pressure drop come from?

The copper core of the network cable has resistance, and a part of the voltage will be deducted when the current passes. For the same 100 meters, the DC resistance of a wire with a thicker diameter is lower, and the larger the loop current, the more it will buckle. When 12V is directly supplied from a distance, a voltage drop of two to three volts may cause the equipment to enter undervoltage protection; standardized power supply with a power receiving end voltage near 48V has a higher tolerance for voltage drops, which is why monitoring projects are more likely to be done according to standards. A poorly contacted crystal head will add tens of milliohms, which is often more fatal than the line length itself.

Three practical control lines

  • The length of the network cable should not exceed 80 meters, and the length should be reserved for bending and maintenance. Do not use an adapter to connect the two sections to the limit.
  • For points where the power received exceeds 13W, do not use non-standard passive remote power supply to pull the point. Instead, move the photoelectric dividing point forward.
  • Power lines and network cables should be laid in separate slots in the same tube to avoid heat superposition and further increase line resistance.
  • After the crystal head is completed and installed, the circuit resistance is actually measured instead of just looking at continuity.

Use the dividing point to move forward to solve long distances

When the point is hundreds of meters or even further away from the computer room, the correct sequence is to shorten the live copper cable section first, and then let the data go through the optical fiber:Gigabit single mode single fiber one optical one electrical fiber optic transceiverPut the boundary on the pole side, and the network cable is only the last few dozen meters. During the transformation, do not use fiber optic cables to make up the distance. The excess length should be sorted into the wiring area of the computer room so that it can be used for centralized management of multiple devices.14-slot box transceiver rack. EB-LINK reminds you that the distance account and power account should be listed together. If one of them is missing, the work will be reworked.
