Even if the equipment is in compliance, it may still be delayed for a few days at the port and the airline. There are usually two types of reasons: the declaration elements are vaguely written, and the transportation conditions of the accompanying materials are not confirmed in advance. The following inspection items are organized into three sections: documents, packaging and transportation.

It is better to complete the declaration elements than to simplify them.

The product name, brand, model, material composition, function and speed, net weight of a single piece, quantity and unit of measurement must be written clearly at once to avoid unverifiable statements such as "a batch of accessories". toPCI-EX16 100G single optical port fiber optic network card and LC-LC single mode dual core jumperTake mixed orders as an example. The materials and functions of the two are quite different. It is easier to separate the details into one row than to merge them into one row, and it can also reduce the number of questions about classification.

Wooden packaging and accessories with batteries each have their own thresholds.

  • Solid wood pallets and boxes must have compliance handling marks, otherwise the destination port may require them to be returned or destroyed
  • Switching to plywood or plastic steel pallets can directly bypass the fumigation process, which is a safer conventional approach.
  • If the accompanying test instrument contains a lithium battery, the battery transportation documents and state of charge must be controlled according to the carrier's requirements for air transportation.
  • Components containing magnetic or liquid materials must be stated before booking. Don't wait until the airport returns the shipment to find out.

The difference in scheduling between sea freight and air freight must be calculated in advance

The unit cost of sea freight is low but the scheduling and customs clearance period are long. LCL is suitable for dozens of boxes. Air freight is suitable for replenishment orders and project urgent items, and the cost rises rapidly with volumetric weight. The rule of thumb is to keep regular consumption models in stock, ship in batches by sea, and make up for the difference by air. The same shipment should only be shipped in one way to avoid batch arrival and customs clearance documents that do not match the quantity.

EB-LINK export orders will provide boxing details and piece weight data with the goods. Customers can check the declaration and booking conditions with the freight forwarder in advance; the classification and tax rate of goods are ultimately subject to the review conclusions of the customs and the carrier. It is recommended that large orders undergo a pre-review first to reduce the need for return orders.
