When tenants return and replace their leases with new ones, indoor workstations and bandwidth requirements often change accordingly. The correct approach is to limit the change workload to the weak current room and indoor ends, and keep the trunk optical cable in the shaft intact throughout the entire process. The whole process can be broken down into four steps.

Check the ledger to locate the old link

Find out the corresponding port and trunk core number of the weak current room according to the room number. Before disconnecting, measure the received light power and record it as a baseline. If the label is unclear, do not blindly connect it. Fill in the label first and then operate. This is an opportunity to make up for the ledger. If the ledger is completely missing, it is recommended to spend half a day to complete the corresponding relationship between the port and the room. Every subsequent change will benefit.

Reconfigure access equipment according to new requirements

With a large number of new tenants, the original 100M100M single-mode dual-fiber one-optical four-electrical fiber optic transceiverChange to Gigabit specifications; when there are many indoor uplink devices, the weak current room side is unified14-slot box transceiver rackCentralize power supply and management to avoid accumulation of wall-mounted loose boxes; before changing speed, confirm the port margin in the weak current room, don't just change the indoor end.

Change jumpers, labels, and retest and archive

  • Just change the jumper along the original route, keep the interface consistent with the device, and add one extra step to the length according to the actual measurement.
  • New labels are printed on the rooms according to ports, and old labels are recycled simultaneously. Only the identification of the trunk in the shaft is checked, and no cables are opened or re-spliced.
  • After reconfiguration, re-measure the received light power. If the deterioration exceeds 2dB compared with the baseline, it is mostly because the connector is dirty or bent too tightly. Clean and re-insert to confirm.

Following the four steps of positioning, reconfiguration, replacement and archiving, single-family changes are usually completed within half a day. EB-LINK can provide change spare parts packages by floor. The spare parts jumpers are consistent with the transceivers and existing solutions. The specific configuration can be communicated with the technical team to complete the change baseline for each floor at once.
