Acceptance of communication transformation is only the starting point. Whether the in-site maintenance team can independently handle link alarms determines the long-term value of the transformation. It is recommended that the following four daily actions be written directly into the station's communication equipment inspection card.
First we will look at the receive and receive luminous power and DDM
Check the receiving and receiving optical power on both sides through the network management or the local maintenance port of the device. The readings at both ends of a healthy link are generally within the manufacturer's trademark range and the deviation is limited. If one side is obviously low, it depends on the situation: low luminescence is mostly due to module aging or temperature abnormality, and low light reception is mostly due to the line or the opposite end. Multiple clicks on links within the siteSFP 2.5G single mode dual fiber 40KM optical moduleFor this type of gear configuration, the SFP series generally supports DDM readings. During modification, it is recommended to confirm that each module in use has this capability, otherwise the power trend will not be found in the event of a fault.
Segmented testing puts faults in the middle
When the link is long, do not try your luck by replacing the entire section. Starting from the self-looping of the optical end electromechanical port, replace and verify segment by segment: first test the short jumper segment next to the equipment, then try the patch panel to the ODF segment, and finally check the trunk optical cable segment. Most problems can be located within three steps to the specific jumper point or terminal box, and then dealt with after the location, to avoid blindly pulling out fibers to expand the impact area.
Three details that are easily overlooked
- Connector end face contamination is a common cause of increased attenuation. Prepare dust-free cotton swabs and alcohol, and be sure to clean them after unplugging and plugging;
- The spare parts module must be of the same model and code as the online module to prevent temporary purchases from being unrecognized;
- Test the entire site link before and after the rainy season. It is more meaningful to see the changing trend than a single reading.
By consolidating these actions into inspection cycles, the fault response time can be significantly compressed. EB-LINK provides working day remote troubleshooting support for sold modules. If you need to compare factory test data, you can call 0755-83179002.
