Pre-terminated cabling moves the termination and polishing to the factory, and only plugs, unplugs and deploys on-site. The construction cycle of a single building can be shortened from weeks to days. This article focuses on the three most vulnerable aspects of MTP and pre-terminated optical cables during the on-site deployment phase: path, traction and polarity.

Before deploying, check the three paths first.

First, check the continuity and cross-sectional margin of the wiring frame. The pre-terminated main trunk is laid in the whole plate, and any gaps in the frame must be filled in advance; second, check whether there is enough turning space at the entrance and cabinet entrance; third, check all bends. The minimum bending radius of the wire harness is generally controlled by ten times the outer diameter, and all right-angle turns should be changed to gentle bends. Opening the market without completing the three checks will require rework eight times out of ten.

Traction method determines fiber core life

The pre-terminated wiring harness has connectors at both ends. Never pull the wiring harness directly or pull it by the branches. The standard method is to wrap the traction end with a net cover and pay out the wire in sections using the figure-8 method. The traction force is controlled within the allowable tension of the wire harness and a margin is left. A guide wheel is added at the corner. When multiple people collaborate, there is a control point every thirty meters. If you hear a jam, you will immediately stop to investigate. The fiber core that has been hard pulled will most likely pay off the debt in the form of random alarms in the future.

Polarity check and segment-by-section testing after release

There are three common polarities of A, B, and C in MTP systems. After deployment, first check the corresponding relationship between ports of the same color segment by segment according to the topology diagram, and then use a light source optical power meter or OTDR to measure the insertion loss segment by segment. The insertion loss of a pair of qualified pre-terminated connectors is usually within 0.35 dB, and it is recommended that the entire link be controlled within the budget value with a 3 dB margin. It is recommended that polarity and test records be filed with the completion data. The EB-LINK technical team can assist in checking the pre-termination plan. Tel: 0755-83179002.
