The access layer of the park network built in the early days was mostly electrical switches. When the buildings were spread out, Category 6 lines were limited to 100m distance, so optical port transformation became a common demand. This type of transformation does not require the replacement of the entire machine. It is enough to make good use of the existing optical fibers and SFP modules. The key is to clarify the selection sequence.
Test the link loss first and then determine the module
Before modification, verify the number of splice points, patch panels and adapters on the optical fiber route. Gigabit single-mode 10KM modules generally correspond to channel losses within 5dB. When the link is longer or there are too many splice points, the longer-distance specification should be upgraded. It is recommended to reserve a 3dB engineering margin to deal with later line jumps and aging attenuation.
Decide whether to choose 100M or 1000M for uplink bandwidth

- Connect the access switch between the PC and the wireless AP, starting with Gigabit uplink
- When multiple switches are connected to the building aggregation port, it is recommended to use Gigabit or above and calculate the convergence ratio.
Three compatibility checks
First, check the speed supported by the optical port of the switch. Combo ports and independent SFP slots are usually mutually exclusive. Second, check whether the platform has SFP code verification. If so, you can ask module manufacturers such as EB-LINK to write code for free adaptation according to the brand. Third, check the standards at both ends of the link. When the opposite end is a transceiver, it must be the same single-mode or multi-mode as the module.Integrated wiring and all-optical network FTTH project for high-tech park office buildings and Campus network and FTTH integrated cabling solutionThe module and wiring specifications have been sorted out in this way.
It is recommended to conduct a trial run in one building first and then promote it in other buildings. The modification list includes the port table, measured distance and peer equipment model; when multiple buildings are under construction simultaneously, the optical modules, jumpers and distribution frames should be reported at once, so that the supply and construction rhythm will be smoother.
