When expanding capacity, the first reaction is often to lay new optical cables, but there are often still fiber cores lying in the shaft that no one has counted. Before reusing existing fiber cores, a three-step inventory of accounting, terminal checking, and optical fiber checking must be carried out. Only when the numbers are clear can the plan be established.

The first step is to match the ledger with the scene

First check the completed data, and then compare it with the site: the number of optical cable cores, the location of the splice box, the idle core number of each box, and the corresponding relationship between the ports on both sides of the ODF. Many project data have not been updated after several rounds of changes. There are 24 cores written in the account, but only 20 cores are listed on site. It is also common for the color sequence to not match. Checking items one by one can avoid re-exploitation of wells.

The second step is to confirm the terminal status box by box.

  • If the spare core is not terminated, the pigtail must be melted in the box before it can be put on the shelves.
  • If the end has not been used for a long time, check whether the pigtail is bent or damp.
  • The coil diameter and bending radius affect the reuse life and are recorded together.
  • If the core numbers at both ends do not correspond, correct them on site and write back to the ledger.

The third step is to measure the available capacity only if the light is passed.

The reuse standard for spare cores is very simple: end-to-end light, use a stable light source with an optical power meter for initial testing, and then use OTDR to confirm that there are no abnormal events in the curve, and the loss is within the budget, and then it is completed, labeled, and recorded. Temporary verification availableSC-SC single mode single core jumper; For long paragraphs, it is recommended to read once at each of the two wavelengths 1310 and 1550, and compare the deviation with the acceptance baseline. At the end of the inventory, a page of fiber core occupancy table should be output: which ones are in use, which ones are in hot standby, and which ones cannot be saved. When EB-LINK is expanding, this table is usually required first. If you need to take inventory of templates, please call 0755-83179002.
