In the past, the dispatch telephones and administrative telephones of the substation mostly entered the station through copper cable lines. After optical fiberization, how to maintain the continuity of telephone traffic and avoid the ground potential difference from entering the telephone equipment is a question that is often asked by the communication and dispatching professionals during the plan review. The key points focus on capacity, grounding and backup.
Check the voice channels first and then determine the equipment capacity.
A common configuration is a dispatch switchboard with several gates and a number of on-duty telephone gates for each protection cell. If the total number of doors is within 8, you can choose directly.8-way telephone + 1-way Internet phone optical transceiver, centralized landing on the computer room side, and extensions on the outdoor side are connected; when the number of doors is larger, they are split according to the office direction, and multiple units are run in parallel. Labels are placed on the side of the distribution frame to correspond one-to-one to avoid being unable to check the line later.
The ground on the traffic side should be disconnected rather than left floating.
When both ends of the copper cable line are grounded, the ground potential difference will flow into the equipment along the line. After switching to optical fiber, the equipment on one side can be connected to the cabinet ground, and the other side can rely on its own working ground. Do not use wires to connect the two ends into a through-ground loop. It is recommended to retain the original security unit on the switchboard side as it still has value in suppressing induced surges.
Backup arrangements for power and switching
- The two power supply lines of the telecom optical terminal belong to different DC bus sections. The switching must be confirmed by maintenance personnel and will not be automatically paralleled;
- The important dispatching channel occupies the fiber core alone and does not share the same optical cable with video and data;
- The renovation was carried out during low traffic periods, with the phone connected first and then removed, and the on-hook, ringing and call clarity verified door by door.
The key to the traffic transformation is that each phone can be independently verified: keep the old and new running in parallel for more than one day before removing the old cables. Wolflight's telephone optical transceivers are tested one by one before leaving the factory. If you need records, please submit them when placing an order.
