The indoor environment of relay protection is controlled, but transceivers often fail when installed directly into outdoor terminal cabinets. The root cause is mostly that the selection only looks at the port parameters and not the environmental parameters. The selection of outdoor cabinets should focus on the three dimensions of wide temperature, power supply, and protection.
Wide temperature class is checked according to extreme values
Commercial modules are generally nominally rated from 0°C to 70°C, but the temperature inside the outdoor cabinet may exceed the limit in the early morning hours in winter and after exposure to the sun in summer. It is recommended to choose the industrial wide temperature range of -25℃~70℃. In severe cold areas, check the -40℃~85℃ range. Make sure that the operating temperature and storage temperature in the specification are two different numbers. It can be used when the link is long or you want to reduce the number of active nodes in the way.SFP 2.5G single mode dual fiber 80KM optical moduleThis type of long-distance gear can be pulled through in one go.
DC power supply range and anti-reverse connection
The operating power supply of the substation is nominally 110V or 220V DC. The actual bus voltage fluctuates in a wide range, and the two incoming lines are often required to be protected from reverse connection. To power communication equipment, a power module marked with wide-voltage DC input should be selected. The DC/DC conversion in the cabinet is used to reduce the voltage required by the equipment. Do not connect the AC power adapter directly to the DC bus. There is no shortcut in this step. Check the equipment nameplate item by item.
Cabinet protection and internal wiring details
- Outdoor cabinets generally start with IP55, and the aging of the sealing strips is included in the annual maintenance inspection items;
- The optical cable enters the cabinet with a waterproof introduction tube and a remaining coil, and the pigtail is exposed in a sleeveSingle mode single core armored patch cordAnti-rat bites and prying pressure;
- The equipment should be installed in the middle and upper part of the cabinet as much as possible, away from the condensation and water accumulation areas at the bottom.
Only when all three dimensions are passed, the online rate of outdoor communication cabinets will have a foundation. If you are not sure about the gear, you can send the temperature record and power supply system in the cabinet to EB-LINK technical support for verification, call 0755-83179002.
