Grain depots, catering back yards, riverside pumping stations and underground computer rooms in old communities are serious rodent infestation scenarios: ordinary outer sheaths may be bitten through in a few days, and links fall into a cycle of "break, repair, repair and break". In such places, classification should start from the selection of armored structures rather than remedial measures afterwards.
Determine the hazard level first
During the on-site inspection, check for three traces: whether there are rat tracks and feces around the bridge and openings, whether there are bite marks on the ends of the cables, and whether there are teeth marks on the surface of the sheathing pipe. If there are only occasional traces, woven armored stalls can handle it; if the bridge section has many bite points, the protection should be upgraded to metal armored stalls; for bare sections that rodents can directly reach, even if they are covered with steel armor, it is recommended to use protective tubes to combine mechanical protection with chemical repellent.
The difference between the three structures
- Corrugated steel tape armor: strong pressure resistance and anti-gnawing ability, suitable for outdoor buried and downlink joint sections, but the cable body is relatively hard, and sufficient bending radius should be left at the turns.
- Flat steel tape armor: average radial compression resistance, better longitudinal bending performance, mostly used indoors and in the trunk section of shafts
- Stainless steel braided armor: thin wire diameter, good flexibility, suitable for inversion and jumping sections of computer room cabinets, and is less resistant to heavy rat gnawing than steel belts
The end protection level must match
The main trunk is equipped with high-grade armor, and the end 1 to 2 m is still an ordinary jumper, and all previous efforts are wasted. Recommended for ODF and wall box sideSingle mode double core armored jumperOr use rat-proof pigtails to close the ends. Choose a metal-reinforced model for the connector tail sleeve. The outlet of the welding disk should be facing downwards to avoid the rat-proof box. EB-LINK can be customized in length and segment by segment, and the selection list and backbone structure are reviewed together to avoid disconnection of protection levels at both ends.
There is no one-size-fits-all solution for severe rodent infestation scenarios. There is only the principle of choosing high rather than low: after the level is determined, the trunk and terminals are upgraded together.
