When the welding point loss is too large, the shape of the curve often gives clues earlier than the numerical value. Being able to read the pattern and then go back to adjust the machine saves time compared to blind remelting, and also prevents good endpoints from getting worse over time.

Gentle steps and bulges: mostly true loss

A downward fold without significant reflection is a non-reflective event, usually from a weld point or bend. Continuous small wrinkle-like undulations are mostly caused by macro bends, and are often located at the corners of manholes or at places where the fibers in the welding disk are too tight. Bubbles and axis offset can be seen under the microscope of the welding machine, and the readings appear as steps. Just position according to the core number and re-solder.

High and narrow peaks: first look at the end face and interface

Strong reflection spikes correspond to active connectors or mechanical splice points. The sharp peak is followed by a long saturated zone, which is mostly due to the end surface being dirty or scratched. Clean it first and then retest. If the reflection level is still high after cleaning, consider replacing the adapter, or useLC-SC single mode dual core jumperExclude interface mixing. If the cold connector is not inserted in the end, a similar peak will be formed, and the position is fixed at the end point.

Ghost and end sink noise

  • Ghost images often appear at the mirror position of the total link length, characterized by strong reflection but almost no loss steps; the position will move after replacing the test jumper or adjusting the pulse width.
  • If the end event cannot be read, it means that the distance gear or pulse width is insufficient. Increase the distance gear and extend the averaging time and measure again.
  • When the near-end strong reflection covers the first few meters of the event, string a section of transmitting optical cable of more than 500 m to push the blind zone outside the measured point.

The recommended order of disposal is from low to high cost: clean the end face first, then review the cutting angle, then fine-tune the discharge gear according to the core number, and finally consider replacing the equipment.
