Whether the third-party optical module can run quietly on the target switch depends on whether the coding is correct, and the other half depends on the matching at the hardware level. The following is a compilation of compatibility points and comparison methods based on five common brands.
The five brands have different calibration priorities.
Cisco focuses on the Vendor Name and OUI, and if the code is written correctly, it can be reported to DDM normally; some Huawei models will also compare the power and wavelength parameter areas in addition to the logo. If they do not match, the port can be connected but the log will continue to leave traces; H3C usually only prompts not to block third-party modules; ZTE and Ruijie are relatively loose in verification on access and campus equipment, but some old firmware will repeatedly alarm for unregistered serial numbers.
In addition to writing code, there are four things to look at for hardware matching.
- Rate and code type: When a gigabit code module is plugged into a 10G port, it will slow down or not be recognized. Writing codes cannot replace rate matching;
- Wavelength and distance: LR corresponds to 10km, ER starts from 40km, long-distance links can be foundSFP+ 10G single-mode dual-fiber 40km optical moduleparameters before placing an order;
- Single-fiber BiDi modules must be used in pairs with crossed wavelengths, and the coding brands at both ends must be consistent;
- Firmware version: When the old firmware parses the new code log abnormally, upgrade the firmware first and then determine the compatibility issue.
The actual operation of placing orders based on the matrix
Example: For the 10G uplink of the Cisco switch on the data center side, place an order based on Cisco code, LR wavelength, and standard DDM threshold.SFP+ 10G single-mode dual-fiber 10km optical module;The same batch writes Huawei codes for Huawei equipment in the park. When EB-LINK is shipped out of the warehouse, it is divided into boxes according to the code type, and the target brand and firmware requirements are marked on the box. When it is put on the shelf, it can be divided into boxes according to the port table, and there will be no mixing of codes.
The value of the compatibility matrix is to turn whether it can be used into something that can be confirmed before placing an order. If you are not sure which code your model corresponds to, please send the switch brand, model and firmware version to 0755-83179002 for verification.
