Many purchasers have seen the statement on the manifest that each product is tested before shipping, but they do not understand the entire process. This article breaks down several aspects of the optical module from material to packaging, and gives the buyer a basis for verification.
Division of labor in the production line: Coupling, aging, and testing each have separate stations.
Conventional batches generally go through four stages: incoming material inspection, chips, PCBs and optical devices are batch-listed and the batch number is registered; coupling welding, the optical path is first coarsely adjusted and then finely adjusted, and the transmitting and receiving calibration data is written into the chip; aging screening, power-on continuous operation to eliminate early failure units, and wide-temperature models are added to run under high and low temperature conditions; factory testing, re-testing of luminous power, receiving sensitivity and DDM reporting, plus a code value readback comparison for the code writing batch.
Why insist on testing one by one instead of random inspections?
Optical link failures are often manifested as single bit errors, port failure, or abnormal DDM readings, and random inspections cannot cover individual differences. The actual measured value of each module is saved in the test one by one. If the deviation is too large from the nominal gear, it will be directly judged and will not flow into the spot pool. toSFP+ 10G single-mode dual-fiber 10km optical moduleTake this type of commonly used files as an example. The records included with the goods include the transceiver power and batch number. After the goods arrive, you can check a few for comparison without having to retest the entire batch.
Three things buyers can check
- Check whether the model, wavelength and distance range on the test record correspond to the order and shell label;
- Can the batch number be traced to the outer box label and shipping document?
- Whether there are obvious insertion and removal wear marks on the gold finger and the casing is used to determine whether it is shipped new.
The value of the quality inspection system lies in traceability: if there is a problem, the original data of the batch can be traced back. All EB-LINK optical modules are tested one by one according to the above process before shipment.
