The most cost-effective step in the acceptance of incoming materials is to look at the appearance. The instrument can measure the electrical parameters, but cannot detect the bending tabs on the road or the gold fingers that are oxidized by moisture. Appearance sampling inspections must have fixed points and cannot be scanned casually.

What to look at on the housing, pull ring and optical port end face

  • Shell: Whether there are cracks, ejector pin indentations and silk screen wear. The indentations indicate that it may have been put on the machine twice.
  • Pull ring: If it is deformed or stuck, it is difficult to pull out and insert smoothly, and it is a hidden danger if it remains in the cage.
  • Optical port end face: If the dust cap is missing or has oil stains on a single row, the qualified insertion loss must also be recorded. Contamination will wear out the opposite end adapter.

Check the transceiver and optical transceiver to see if the shell seams, mounting ears and heat dissipation holes are deformed, and whether the power pins are skewed.

Goldfinger and label are two tracing clues

If the gold finger is dark or has scratches, it means that the contact surface has been used or the storage humidity is high. This type of order should be given priority when retesting. There are three things to check on the label: model, wavelength and distance range, and batch number. The batch number does not match the records accompanying the shipment, so the entire box must be isolated first and then inspected. used in pairsGigabit single mode single fiber one optical one electrical fiber optic transceiverAlso make sure that end A and end B are fully matched. Missing ends will require on-site construction and other parts.

Third-level treatment for unsatisfactory appearance

  • Recoverable problems (end surface contamination, missing cap parts) should be cleaned and reassembled on site before retesting.
  • Things that affect reliability but are usable (scratches on the casing, blurred labels) are individually marked and then subject to acceptance and judgment.
  • Structural damage (casing cracks, optical port skew, pin deformation) will be eliminated directly.

For all three grades, the quantity and photo number must be written on the acceptance form. The proportion of appearance inspections does not need to be high. Sampling 30 out of 1,000 products is enough to detect systemic packaging problems. EB-LINK performs final inspection on the same set of points before shipment and keeps images.
