There are fewer fields, so the installation team has to guess; the translation is not consistent, and the work order and the spare parts library cannot match. This article breaks it down in an executable way: what content must be printed on the shell, how to write terms, and where to post it to survive until the end of the operation and maintenance period.

At least these six types of information should be retained on the shell

It is recommended to lock a glossary first and then arrange the label format: SFP+ is not written as mini GBIC, single-mode and multi-mode are written in the stable form of SMF and MMF respectively, LC/SC/FC connector models remain untranslated from the original text, and the units of parameters such as link budget and attenuation are unified into dB and dBm. The multi-language versions share the same set of numbers and units, and only replace the description text to avoid another set of values ​​appearing in the translation.

Do substrates, inks and locations count as compliance items?

Forget it. The labels printed on the metal casing are relatively safe. When using self-adhesive on the plastic casing, the ink adhesion must be considered; the roll material must be prevented from warping in high-temperature locations within the cabinet; the label must not block the optical port, heat dissipation holes, and indicator lights. Engineering experience is to choose a wear-resistant base material and coat it as needed. The serial number should still be readable after wiping with alcohol or fingerprints. Otherwise, you can only rely on the batch number on the packaging box for traceability during repair.
