A reasonable approach is not to record a fixed percentage, but to gradually calculate it using three dimensions, and then revise it based on the operating data.

First use the installed capacity and fault records to determine the base number

The number on the network is counted by model, and the annual failure rate is estimated based on the historical repair records of the project. The industry generally takes 3% to 5% as the starting point, but the actual failure of optical modules is obviously related to the intensity of port usage and the temperature rise in the computer room: cabinets with poor ventilation and long-term high-load ports need to be raised, and cold standby ports can be appropriately lowered.

The turnover cycle determines the safe water level

The longer the time between request and arrival of spare parts, the higher the safety level. If the transportation cycle is fixed at one week, plus in-factory distribution and testing time, the two-week volume will be used as the bottom line, and the importance weight will be added. After half a year of operation, the pool size will be stabilized only after it is revised based on actual consumption. During quarterly inventory, only the quantity will be adjusted, not the gear.
