There are usually only a few indicator lights on the front panel of the transceiver, but the amount of information is not small. Reading them can pinpoint the fault to the power supply, optical path or electrical port within three minutes. The following is how to interpret the EB-LINK on-site technical support summary.
Remember the normal status of the four basic lights first
- The PWR power light is always on: the power supply is normal; if it goes out, check the adapter and socket first.
- The FX optical port light is always on: the optical fiber link has been established; if it is off or flashing, it means the optical path is abnormal.
- The TX electrical port light is always on: the network cable connection with the switch or computer is normal.
- The ACT light flashes regularly: it is sending and receiving data, which is normal; if it stays on, please pay attention.
FX light off or flashing processing sequence
First confirm that both ends of the jumper are inserted in place. The SC connector must hear a click sound before it counts; for a dual-fiber link, cross the two fiber cores once at the opposite end to verify whether they are plugged in reverse; for single-fiber equipment, confirm that the wavelengths at both ends are paired.Gigabit single mode single fiber one optical one electrical fiber optic transceiverThe A and B terminals cannot be connected with the same model. If there is still no solution, use an optical power meter to measure the light reception: the normal light reception at the Gigabit single-mode 10 km level is generally -3dBm to -20dBm, and if it is lower than -22dBm, it is close to the sensitivity limit. Cleaning the connector smoothly is also a must. You can replace it with a confirmed one.LC-LC single mode dual core jumperMake comparisons.
Which section should be checked respectively when PWR is off and when TX is off?
PWR is off. Check the power supply segment: whether the adapter output voltage matches. The equipment in the rack can be moved to a known normal slot and try again. To rule out oxidation of the backplane contacts, the rack can refer to14-slot box transceiver rack. TX is off. Check the power port section: Replace the confirmed network cable and confirm that the peer device is powered; if TX is on but ACT is not flashing, it is probably because there is no business traffic at the far end or the speed negotiation between the two ends is inconsistent. Fix both ends to the same speed range and observe again.
Indicator light interpretation solves the problem of direction. After the direction is determined, the instrument is used for quantification, which is the most efficient.
